Stairlift removal with no mess — and possibly money back.

Removing a stairlift untrained usually means wrestling it out in one piece and marking the house on the way. Our engineers disconnect the power, take the lift off the track, split the rail down and carry it all out — most removals done in 20–30 minutes, leaving nothing behind but a hoovered staircase.

Before you pay for removal

Three ways your stairlift can leave the house.

Best outcome

We buy it from you

If it's a brand and age we recondition (roughly under 5 years old), we'll agree a price in advance, remove it professionally and pay you on the spot.

Standard service

Paid removal

For lifts we can't buy back, we remove for a fixed fee quoted before we travel — timed around house sales, renovations or whatever you need.

Temporary

Removal & storage

Renovating, or between homes? We can remove the lift, store it safely and refit it later — see also our transfer service.

Nothing is dumped: lifts we can't resell are stripped at our workshop — steel, batteries and electronics are all recycled, and usable parts keep other stairlifts running.
The details

Removal questions, answered.

How much does stairlift removal cost?

It varies with your location and how complex the lift is — a curved rail takes longer than a straight one. You'll get a fixed quote over the phone before we call out. And if it's a lift we want to buy, the money flows the other way.

How much notice do you need?

A few days is usually plenty — more is better. We work nationwide and can time the removal around movers, estate agents or builders.

What about marks on the carpet?

The rail leaves flattened spots rather than holes — the fixings go into the treads under the carpet. Flattened pile recovers easily, and we'll show you the trick to speed it up before we leave.

What happens to the lift afterwards?

Good lifts are reconditioned and rehomed. Everything else is stripped for spare parts, with the steel, batteries and electronics recycled responsibly — that's the whole point of ReStairlift.
