Our stairlifts · Reconditioned

Really reconditioned. Not just "used".

There's a difference between a second-hand stairlift and a reconditioned one. Every lift that comes through our workshop is stripped down, rebuilt with new batteries and worn parts replaced, deep-cleaned and safety-tested — before it ever touches your stairs. That's how we can guarantee it for 2 years.

The reconditioning process

What happens before a lift earns its second life.

01

Bought back

Quality lifts under ~5 years old are bought back from homes across Ireland and brought to our workshop.

02

Stripped & rebuilt

Motors, boards, rollers and switches are inspected; anything worn is replaced. Older donor lifts are stripped for parts — nothing goes to landfill.

03

New batteries & testing

Fresh batteries go in as standard, then every function — sensors, swivel, folding, remotes — is tested top to bottom.

04

Cleaned, fitted, guaranteed

Deep-cleaned, installed at your home within days, and covered by our 2-year parts & labour guarantee.

What it costs

From around €1,300 — installation included.

Reconditioned straight lifts start from roughly €1,300 fully fitted; curved lifts vary with the shape of your stairs. Every price includes professional installation, new batteries and the 2-year guarantee — and running costs are tiny, around €20 a year in electricity.

Grants of up to 90% may apply through your local authority — see our grants & schemes guide.

Honest answers

Questions people ask about buying reconditioned.

How much notice do you need before installing?

Very little — most reconditioned installations are arranged within a few days of your order. If it's urgent, tell us and we'll do our best to move faster.

How long does the installation take, and is there mess?

Around two to three hours for a straight lift. The rail screws to your stair treads — not the wall — so there's no drilling into plaster, no dust and no redecorating afterwards.

Is the warranty really the same as on a new lift?

Yes — 2 years, parts and labour. Over an average lift's usage that's more than 4,000 journeys up and down covered. Full details on our warranty page.

What brands do you recondition?

Only leading names we can stand over — mainly Acorn and Thyssen models like the Acorn 130, Acorn 180 and HomeGlide. Reliable lifts make reliable reconditioned lifts.

Why are reconditioned lifts better for the environment?

A stairlift is often only needed for a few years but built to last decades. Reusing one keeps perfectly good engineering out of landfill — and even lifts too old to resell are stripped so their parts keep other lifts running.
